I stayed at a parking lot in Gyeongju.

+ + + + + + + + + +

This morning,I exchanged my JPY to Korean currency(Won) at a bank.
(10000yen = 140300W)

I hope it will be enough amount to use untill my leavein Korea.
I think I would be in Korea for 10 - 14 more days.

When I got out of the bank, I found familiar people on a street.

"Hello Sally and Katie!"

It was the sisiters from Hongkong I met with yesterday.
We chatted for a few minutes, and promised we would meet again in Hongkong.
I saw off them to go to Gyeongju station.

One minutes later,

I found familiar people on a street again.

"Hello Kang and han!"

I climbed "Namsan" mountain with them the other day.
We chatted for a  while, then I said good bye again.

Gyeongju is a small city.

Well.
I'm going to leave Gyeongju today.

But before that,I wanted to visit one more historic place in Gyeongju.
The place has 23 mounds (tombs).

We can get into one of those mounds.
And we can see the structure of those mounds.
There was a wooden coffin in the middle of the mound.
King's body which wore a gold crown lay in it when resercher excavated the mound..

20111108_4.JPG

King's body was found like this.

The mounds were made of a lot of rocks, and soil.
They piled a lot of rocks on the coffin and cover it with soil.
That's why those mounds still exsist about 2000years later (now).

There are about 150 of mounds still exsist in Geongju downtown.
About 500 of mounds still exsist in the whole Gyeongju city.
What a large numbers!
It's because Gyeongju was the capital city of Silla kingdom for about 1000 years.
The longer the city was the capital, the more there are King's tombs there.

A mound is so big!

I still have places I want to visit.
But I saved those for the next time I come.

After having lunch, I left Gyeongju.
I made good memories in this 6 days here.
I like Gyeongju.

My destination today was "Daegu".
Daegu is about 70km away from Gyeongju on route 4.
Route 4 has wide road and smooth surface.
It was nice to ride on.
I arrived in Daegu after confortable 4 hours riding.

"Daegu is...just a big city."

Lee told me so.

But the size of the city was bigger than I imagined.
It has several big department stores and movie theaters.
The city is big and well urbanized.

I walked around the downtown area for about 2 hours.
Then it started raining.
I went to a basball stadiam near the station to look for a place to camp tonight.

I found a good place.
It has a roof and there were no people around.

I read a book until in my tent 22pm.
When I finished reading,somebody came.

"○*◆#□&△%?"

They talked to me, but I couldn't understand.
I got out from the tent, there were two men standing.
They looked they were guards.

I couldn't understand what they said at all.
But I guessed they said,

"Gates will be closed soon.Don't do camping here."

So I had to pack my luggage, and leave.

すると、

Then,

"Go police.Go police."

They said.

え?警察??

What? Police!?

I was suprised to hear that.
I didn't do anything wrong...I thought.

I followed the man to go to police box.

I got strained when I was walking to there.

There were 5 of policemen, but no one was able to speak neither Japanese and English.

They suspected me at first.
I showed my passport,money,by bike.
And explained what I'm doing to them with gesture.

It took a few while, but they got what I meant.

After that, they turned to be good men.
They cared for me, and allow me to stay at the stadiam.

One policeman showed me where was the good place to stay.
Then said "good night" with smile.

Policemen I met tonight were all good and kind people.
I was sorry for disturbing them for 1 hour.

Anyhow,I slept well tonight biside of the stadium.

(What I saw in Korea.)

In Korea, some of cars and motor bikes ignore traffic lights.
They don't be hesitate to go through under a red light.
I was suprised when I saw a city bus did that.

But I can understand why they do it.
Because,we have to wait long once the light turned red in Korea.
I don't understand why Korean traffic lights takes so long to turn blue light.
I also often ignore the lights.
