九龍(ｸｰﾛﾝ)へ (I arrived in downtown Hongkong.)

日の出とともに起きて、

 

【植物園駐車場を出発】

I woke up with the sun and started early today.

 

 

 

目指すは、香港の九龍半島の南端、「尖沙咀」(チムサアチョイ)。

 

 

そこまで、距離的にはほんの３０ｋｍくらいのはずで、

 

早朝の出発だったので、

 

今日は香港の市街地をゆっくり見て回れそうだと、期待していた。

 

My destination today was Tsim Sha Tsui.
The area is  on the southern tip of Kowloon peninsula.
It wasn't so far.
According to my map,it was only 30km away  from where I camped lastnight.

I thought I could arrived there in the morning, then I could look around downtown Hongkong.
 

 

 

香港の詳しい地図は持っていないけど、

 

 

【標識に従って"九龍"を目指せばいい】

 

I didn't have a detailed map of Hongkong.
But there were signs at every  round about which showed me the way to Kowloon.

So I just followed those signs.


 

…と思っていたら！

Then...
 

 

 

元朗という街まで来たとき、道が高速道路なってしまった。

 

 

「あれ！？おかしいぞ…？？」

 

 

九龍へ続く一般道は、見当たらない。

 

The road ended up with being a motorway.
And there was no other way  which lead me to kowloon.

 

 

「いつ道を間違えたんだろう…？」

 

 

 

おかしいなと思って、元朗の周辺で道を探し回る。

 

でも、見つからない。


"九龍"と書いてある看板の矢印は、どれも高速道路へと続いている。

 

 

元朗の街と九龍の間は、高い山が壁を作っていた。

 

 

 

「これはもしかして…高速道路以外の道がない！？」

 

I thought I took a wrong way on my way there.
So I turned around and headed back the way I cycled from.
But I still couldn't find a right way.

It seemed all the road signs  just lead me to a motorway.

Then I realized there was no other way I could ride on to Kowloon in the area.


 

 

俺が持っていた簡単な地図を見ると、一本だけ、一般道もありそう。

 

でも、縮尺が大きすぎて、詳しい位置がわからない。

I found this sing was only for car drivers, not for cyclists.
 

ワナじゃんか！


"Don't mislead me to a wrong way! "


標識はアテにならないので、
 

方位磁石と地名を見ながら、山越えの省道を探して、ウロウロ。

 

 

結局、正しい道を見つけるまでに、３時間半もかかった！

 

えらい時間のロスをした！

 

I checked the other route to Kowloon on my map.
Then I found a road which went to there through a mountain.
Because my map wasn't detailed,and I couldn't trust sings,
I needed 3 and a half hours to find the road.



 

車で行くことが前提なんだな…もう、まったく！

 

プンプン！

 

 

 

イラッとしているときは、

 

I was so annoyed by seaching the road for a long time.
I easily got mad then.

A post standing in the middle of my way...damn!
 

 

「なんで、こんなところに街灯立てるんだよ！！」

 

 

邪魔で通れないでしょーが！

 

プンプン！

 

 

 

 

新界(ﾆｭｰﾃﾘﾄﾘｰ)には、道路の脇にちゃんと自転車道があったから、

 

てっきり香港は自転車に優しい場所なのかと思っていたけど、

 

そうでもないのかもしれない。。。

 

I was getting to dislike roads in Hongkong.

 

 

 

まあ、３時間半も探し回った道がようやく見つかって、とにかく安心。

 

 

 

東西に連なっている壁のような山に向かって走るので、

 

峠越えルートになるのは必至だけど、無駄に走り回るよりは断然マシだった。

 

 

 

「よし！どんな坂道でもこい！」

 

 

 

なんて、意気込んで上り始めると、

 

 

平均で斜度１２％はあろうかという、これまたひどく急な傾斜の上り坂だった。

 

Anyhow,I was happy  I started riding on the right way to Kowloon.

And I was ready to cycle through mountains.

地図を見ると、峠のすぐ横の山の標高が９００ｍを越えているので、

 

峠自体も最低600～700ｍの標高はありそう。

 

 

 

標高の割には、道の距離が短いので、キツい傾斜も納得だった。

 

 

 

やっぱり、自転車には優しくなさそうだ。(~.~;)

 

 

 

汗だくになり、半分くらい上ったところで自転車を降りた。

 

押して上るのもきついけど、こぐのと歩くので負担のかかる筋肉が違うので、

 

俺は、バランスよく使う派。

 

 

こいだら時速６ｋｍ。

 

押して歩いたら時速４ｋｍ。

 

 

斜度がきついと、そんなに変わらない。

 

 

 

自転車で上りきってやろうという男気には、興味なし。

 

ムリしないのが一番！派。

進めればいーのよ。派。


But the road  to the pass had really steep up hills in many places.
I couldn't continue riding up to the pass.

I walked with pushing my bike to the pass half of the way.
 

 

【さっきまで３時間以上ウロウロしていた、元朗市街の景色】

 

 

 

結局、峠に着くまでに２時間くらいかかり、半分くらいは押して上った。

 

 

ようやく下り坂が始まり、見えた山の向こうの景色は、

 

 

高層マンションが乱立する、"香港っぽい"都会の景色だった。

 

 

It took about 2 hours to get to the pass.
I'm always happy when I start cycling down on a donw hill.

I enjoyed a typical Hongkong scenery, so many numbers of tall residencial buildings,
with riding a bike at the speed of over 50km/h.

I thought I arrived in Hongkong!
